LPS corals are an order of coral species that have a stony calcium skeleton with large coral polyps, LPS meaning ‘Large Polyp Stony’ or ‘Large polyp Scleractinians’ . Scleractinian meaning stony coral. Examples of Large polyp Scleractinians include: Duncanestrea, caulastraea, goniopora, acanthastrea, favia and euphyllia.
